About us
Hello!
We are a 10th Grade HBio21 Class at Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield, Connecticut. We are currently working on our Expo project, in which we are planning to cool a room using hydrogels, an absorbant polymer that evaporates water, helping people save on electric bills, and have a more natural solution to air conditioning
"EvanesCo? What's that?"
Evanesco means 'vanish' or 'disappear' We got the idea from some of our teammates who are taking Latin, because it is a latin term.

Our Expo Idea
Imagine, cooling a room, without spending any extra money on your electric bill! Using hydrogels, (or cross-linked acrylic polymers) we are learning that people can find a cost-effective, eco-friendly way to keep their rooms nice and cool during hotter summer months. Our idea involves hydrogel balls being placed inside portions of a wall. As the hydrogels fill with water, they increase in size. This leads to them shrinking again, letting off evaportated water, thus cooling the respected area.
This area that we are focusing on cooling is our senior lounge. By the time our entire class is seniors, we will have a nice and cool room, even during the summer!
