Experiment 5

Our fifth experiment is by far the most complex, but one that will simulate closest to a class room. We put the JUMBO hydrogels on the 6 ceramic plates all in a row, inside the a box.

 

We cut two slits on opposite sides of the box, and a fan on one side blowing into the box through the slit. We put two thermometers above the slits, to measure the temperature on both sides.

 

The fan is being used to create circulation within the box, and blowing the air above the hydrogels.

 

Independent Variable:  location of thermometer (intake, output)

Dependent Variable: temperature

 

The output temperatutre was colder than both ambient and intake.
